Prof. Dr. A. Ferruh GEZEN
He graduated from Istanbul University Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine in 1975. Between 1979 -1984, he received specialization training in Ankara GATA Brain and Nerve Surgery Department. In 1984-1985, with the scholarship of the Austrian Government’s Ministry of Science and Research, he participated in clinical studies in the fields of Microsurgery training and Neurovascular Surgery and Neurooncology at the Vienna University Medical Faculty Neurosurgery Clinic (under Prof. Dr. Wolfgang T. Koos), especially in Cerebral Revascularization Surgery (Extraintracranial Cerebral Bypass). , in the fields of Carotid Endarterectomy). He worked as a Neurosurgery Specialist at Erzurum Marshal Çakmak Hospital between 1986 and 1989. He worked as an assistant professor between 1989 -1993 and as an associate professor between 1993 and 1998 in GATA Neurosurgery Department. Meanwhile, he worked as a visiting professor at the Hannover University Medical Faculty Neurosurgery Clinic (Germany) in 1991 and at the Mainz University Neurosurgery Clinic (Germany) in 1995. In 1999, he was appointed as a professor at Abant İzzet Baysal University, Faculty of Medicine, Department of Neurosurgery.
Between 2000 and 2003, he worked as the chief physician of the AİBU Training and Research Hospital and as the vice dean of the AİBU Faculty of Medicine. He served as the Founding Vice Rector of the newly established Düzce University between 2007 and 2011 and the Head of the Neurosurgery Department between 1999 and 2012. Between 2012 and 2018, he was the Head of the Department of Neurosurgery, Faculty of Medicine, Istanbul Medeniyet University, and was responsible for education and administration. Between 2019 -2021, Göztepe Prof. Dr. He worked as a lecturer at Süleyman YALÇIN City Hospital, Department of Neurosurgery. He is married and has 1 child. He speaks English and German. Neurooncology (tumor surgery), Neurovascular surgery (aneurysm, AVM, Cerebral bypass), Spinal Surgery, Brachial Plexus and Peripheral Nerve Surgery are his special interests. He has many scientific publications scanned in international indexes, published in national refereed journals, and many scientific studies presented at national and international congresses. More than 1200 scientific citations have been made to these scientific studies.
